Opportunity to Serve: Troop Scouter – 1st Midrand Scout Group
Are you passionate about youth development, outdoor adventure, and making a difference in your community? The 1st Midrand Scout Group, a vibrant and growing group in the Sandton District, is looking for a dedicated Troop Scouter to lead our Scout Troop and inspire the next generation of young leaders. Our Group includes a Meerkat Den, Cub Pack, and Scout Troop, and is proudly based in the heart of Midrand. We are committed to inclusivity, diversity, and the values of the Scout Movement.
Role Overview: Troop Scouter
As Troop Scouter, you will:
- Lead and support Scouts aged 11–17 through the Scout Advancement Programme.
- Work collaboratively with and lead the troop scouter team to deliver engaging, adventurous, weekly programmes and organise and participate in camps, hikes, community service, and other exciting activities.
- Collaborate with the Scout Group Leader, Pack Scouter, Meerkat Den Scouter, and Group Committee to ensure a cohesive and well-supported Group environment.
- Uphold and model the Scout Promise and Law in all aspects of your leadership.
Requirements
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is a registered member of Scouts South Africa in good standing.
- Has a passion for working with youth and a love for the outdoors.
- Has completed the Troop Scouter Warrant training or will commit to completing the Troop Scouter
- Warrant training soon after starting in the role.
- Has strong communication, planning, and teamwork skills.
- Is committed to the Law and Promise of the Scout Movement.
