1st Midrand Cubs Join World Cleanup Day 2026

On Saturday, 19 September 2026, the 1st Midrand Cub Pack will be taking part in World Cleanup Day by helping to clear litter from a section of Moerdyk Street towards Jamie Uys Street.

World Cleanup Day brings communities together to care for their shared environment. For our Cubs, it is an opportunity to put the values of Scouting into action, learn about responsible citizenship and discover how even small acts of service can make a meaningful difference.

Activity details

Date: Saturday, 19 September 2026
Time: 08:00–10:00
Location: Moerdyk Street, working towards Jamie Uys Street

Medical gloves and rubbish bags will be supplied. Cubs may bring their own gardening gloves or other suitable protective gloves if they prefer.

Each Cub must also bring:

  • A wide-brim hat
  • A filled water bottle

Parents are warmly invited to join us and help with the litter cleanup. Additional adult hands will make the morning more effective and provide a wonderful opportunity for families to serve the local community together.

Parking arrangements

We are hoping to arrange parking at the Swiss Country Club. If this cannot be confirmed, families will need to park safely along Moerdyk Street. Final parking arrangements will be communicated to parents before the activity.

Small hands make a big difference

Caring for the environment is about more than collecting rubbish. It teaches our Cubs to take responsibility for the places in which they live, recognise the impact of litter and understand the value of working together.

We look forward to a productive morning of teamwork, service and positive action as we help make our neighbourhood cleaner and greener.
